Day 1
Based on arrival to Lapland local airport at 1700 ( scheduled flights from UK via Helsinki)
Transfer Yllashumina log cabin hotel in Akaslompolo, approximately 40 minutes from airport. Stop on route to hotel to collect thermal clothing – thermal suit, boots, mittens, socks and balaclava.

Day 2
Breakfast in Humina restaurant.
Morning: Transfer to a husky dog farm for a husky dog safari (9km). This is one of the best husky dog farms in Lapland and is home to over 100 huskies and is set in a secluded area of the forest. After the safari warm up around the fire where coffee and warm juice with ginger bread cookies is served.
Afternoon: In your free time why not try cross country skiing. You can also hire snow shoes and a map for your nature exploring or hire kick spark (similar to kick sledges) for a quick visit to local shops and supermarket.

Yllashumina hotel is well known for it's excellent location for cross country skiing with extensive tracks right on your doorstep. The hotel has its own ski shop from which you can rent cross country skis, snowshoes and kick sparks. With skiing as a focus of this programme why not try a combination of downhill skiing/snowboarding as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoe walking. With all these activities within minutes of your accommodation returning to the log cabin suite couldn't be easier after a long day.
