The soft pounding of paws, steady breathing of the dogs and the sound on the wind softly passing you are the only sounds to be heard on the Husky Safari Short Break. Travel through ancient Arctic forests on the doorstep of the Pallas-Ylläs National Park and spend the nights in wilderness cabins without electricity or running water. Once you are introduced to your team of dogs it is up to you to take care of them but in return they will take you places most will never see, wild places unreachable by cars and unspoilt by the modern world. This break is not for the faint of heart.
The adventure begins on the second day when, after meeting your team of dogs you head into the wilderness. The route takes you through forests, over frozen lakes and swamps and along rivers – quintessential Finnish and Lappish nature. Each night is spent in a different wilderness hut which always has a sauna and an outdoor Arctic toilet. All participants share in the carrying of supplies and the preparation of meals as well as sharing sleeping areas. On the sixth day you return to Harriniva and have a day free to try some of the other standout activities Lapland has to offer.
You may wish to book an extra activity for day 7. Not all activities are available every day so we recommend checking in advance.
